About Eastex Drone
About Us
Our journey into drone services started with boots on the ground in Texas’s exotic wildlife industry, where conservation meets innovation and tradition. Since 2019, our founder has worked in the whitetail and exotic wildlife community, navigating the regulatory landscape to support landowners and ranchers. Working in this industry feels like stepping into a “fantasy land” where rare and beautiful animals roam free—species many people only see on National Geographic. These unique and breathtaking experiences inspired us to do more than manage paperwork; they ignited a desire to make a real impact on wildlife management, conservation, and the future of the industry.
After years of focusing on regulatory requirements, we realized we wanted a more hands-on role that would allow us to contribute directly to preserving Texas’s natural resources. Moving beyond the office, we traded in hours spent negotiating with Texas Parks and Wildlife for time spent out in the open pastures, where we could get dirt on our boots and work side-by-side with ranchers, farmers, and wildlife conservationists. Our goal has always been to build a service that would help these communities while staying rooted in our respect and admiration for Texas’s wildlife.
A significant motivation for our drone services company came from working with the Managed Lands Deer Program (MLDP) over the past five years. We’ve seen the limitations of traditional wildlife survey methods, like spotlights and helicopter surveys, which can be invasive and stress-inducing for the animals. Drones, on the other hand, provide a non-intrusive alternative, allowing us to collect accurate data with minimal disruption to the natural environment. This technology lets us conduct wildlife management with more precision, efficiency, and care—aligning perfectly with our values and those of our clients.
Our experience goes beyond technology; we bring an understanding of the industry’s unique needs and challenges. We’ve worked closely with biologists, landowners, and wildlife experts who help guide the conservation and management decisions across Texas. With our insight into what wildlife biologists look for in surveys and our familiarity with the day-to-day realities of a working hunting or breeding operation, we know what it takes to get the job done accurately and respectfully.
Launching this company involved overcoming regulatory hurdles and earning a Section 107 license, which allowed us to operate commercially. Learning the ins and outs of this licensing process was challenging, given the obscure requirements that rarely come up in day-to-day flight operations. However, this journey reinforced the importance of patience and safety in our fieldwork and made us stronger, more diligent operators.
The leap into this industry was a personal one as well. With a background in law and human resources, our founder had grown accustomed to finding solutions in complex scenarios, which turned out to be a valuable asset for building a drone services business. In fact, it was this background that fueled the motivation to start a company in an industry where “work” means doing something fun and impactful outdoors. There’s nothing quite like bringing advanced technology to the field, seeing the results firsthand, and, yes—getting paid to do what we love!
This is about more than a livelihood; it’s about community, family, and giving back. We live in a time when communities feel divided, and it’s important to be part of a network that fosters goodwill and shared purpose. One of the most fulfilling aspects of our work is offering pro bono drone services to local search and rescue teams and disaster relief efforts, where infrared technology can make a life-saving difference. Our experience in the wildlife industry has shown us that it’s full of passionate, committed people who truly enjoy what they do, and we’re proud to be part of this community. Their energy and dedication are contagious, fueling our mission to help others while making a positive impact on the land.
Drone technology has come a long way since we first took flight five years ago. Today, drones are being used for everything from fertilizing crops to inspecting industrial sites and even delivering essential supplies. The future holds endless possibilities for this technology, from delivering construction materials to hard-to-reach job sites to even more revolutionary uses that we’re excited to be part of. We believe that responsible drone use will continue to open doors and make new contributions to industries like wildlife management, conservation, and agriculture.
Our ideal clients are conscientious ranchers and lease-owners who prioritize their land and the wildlife that call it home. They’re committed to knowing exactly what’s on their property, preserving the natural environment, and doing their part to maintain Texas’s rich ecosystems. Working with these individuals allows us to contribute to a sustainable future, ensuring that our kids, grandkids, and generations to come can enjoy the outdoors as we have.
Looking ahead, we envision growing this company with family in mind. We hope our children will one day join us, bringing fresh perspectives and enthusiasm to an industry that’s changing the world. Exposure to the possibilities of drone technology from an early age is a valuable gift we’re excited to share with them. With so many applications and advancements on the horizon, we look forward to a future where our family, clients, and community continue to thrive together.
